“My children have spent a collective 6 years at Yad b’Yad (so far!) and I can truly say that it is so much more than a child care center. It is a community where children are safe, respected and loved. From turning a classroom into an ocean floor, to crafting an outdoor music wall, to having a feast fit for hungry caterpillars, children are at the heart of it all. YBY has been a special chapter in my family’s life and will forever hold a place in our hearts.”

— AMANDA, mom of AARON (PRE-K Class of ‘21) and HENRY Pre-k class of ‘23)

Our School

Yad B’Yad Children’s Center LLC at Temple Emanuel of Tempe is an independently owned and operated child development program offering partial and full-day education throughout the calendar year for children age 6 weeks to five years old.

Yad B’ Yad Children’s Center LLC provides children and families a child-centered full day early years educational program in an intimate community-based environment. We embrace and incorporate the values of reform Judaism with thoughtful choices, a diverse community, and a desire to repair the world, with respect and compassion at the heart of our learning. Our indoor and outdoor environments are equally accessible throughout the program day. Our curriculum presents learning concepts through hands-on exploration of the world around us. Our program naturally introduces academic and social skill concepts within a non-competitive, learning-focused environment. Our primary goal is to provide a philosophically balanced approach to early childhood education, care-giving, and teaching; readying children for their educational adventures beyond our doors.  In the warm and nurturing environment of our school, highly-qualified teachers provide a developmentally-appropriate, comprehensive educational curriculum for young children within the context of Jewish stories and values. Yad B’ Yad Children’s Center addresses learning for the whole child and our overarching goal to imbue our students with confidence and curiosity to explore the world guides our daily work.

Our teachers are energetic, creative and loving. They weave Jewish values and best practice into all they plan and do.

“I adore your teachers (all of them) and am amazed with the kindness and true compassion shown towards the littles, regardless of what may be going on around them.”

— sandra, mom of beau (pre-k class of ‘20)

Standards

We add greater challenges in all areas of development as children grow within our environment to prepare them fully for the academic challenges of formal schooling. We pride ourselves on a well-balanced, non-competitive approach to academics. A child’s unfolding development is our first and foremost consideration. We want our students to learn to love exploration and discovery as their foundation for future learning.

We use best practice standards recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and monitor quality annually with the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS).
